RE: Cost-of-Living (COLA) Adjustment of $0.22 on August 1, 2026
Inflation triggered a 2026 COLA increase of $0.22 per hour and 0.55 cents per mile under the 2023-2028 National Master United Parcel Service Agreement.
The U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) increased to a level of 328.829 points ( 1982-84= 100) in May 2026. This triggers a COLA increase because the CPI-W Index points exceeded 325.283 points.
Per Article 33 of the contract, a COLA increase is payable when the CPI-W Index points exceed the prior year's Index plus three percent and is at least $0.05 per hour. In addition, the contract provides a one cent per hour and one-fourth mils per mile increase for every two-tenths (0.2) point increase in the Index. Since the reported May 2026 CPI-W figure is 4.545 points above the May 2025 Index of 314.839 plus three percent and is at least $0.05 per hour, there will be a $0.22 per hour and 0.55 cents per mile COLA increase applied as outlined in Article 33.
Since the negotiated increases are $1.00 per hour, 2.29 cents per mile single rate, 2.34 cents per mile double rate, and 2.39 cents per mile trip le rate, the new UPS Teamsters wage increases inclusive of the COLA increases for Aug. I, 2026 are:
$1.22 per hour
2.84 cents per mile single rate
2.89 cents per mile double rate
2.94 cents per mile triple rate
