Santa Fe Added to 492 UPS Practice Picketing Schedule
Brothers and Sisters,
7/10/2023- As you may know, the IBT is being proactive in every possible way when it comes to showing UPS that we are serious about getting the contract you deserve. This includes practice picketing around the country. Local 492 is participating in the practice and we need all hands on deck when we hit your center. We have added the Santa Fe Center to the list below, which is a list of days, times and centers we will be having practice pickets:
- Las Cruces was this morning at July 10, at 8:00 am
- Alamogordo July 11 at 8:00 am
- Santa Fe on Wednesday, July 12th, at 8 am.
- Roswell July 12 at 9:00 am
- Comanche center Saturday July 15 from 9:00-11:00 am.
We would ask that Gateway and Aspen building employees participate in the Comanche practice, due to the high visibility provided by the busy street in front of the Comanche building.
More dates and centers will follow, if time allows. If there are any questions, please talk with your stewards or call your business agent at the Local Union Hall. Let your voices be heard so that we can get the contract that YOU deserve!!
AFTER MARATHON SESSIONS, UPS NEGOTIATIONS COLLAPSE
IBT PRESS RELEASE 7/5/2023 - Around 4 a.m., UPS walked away from the bargaining table after presenting an unacceptable offer to the Teamsters that did not address members’ needs. The UPS Teamsters National Negotiating Committee unanimously rejected the package.
Following marathon negotiations, UPS refused to give the Teamsters a last, best, and final offer, telling the union the company had nothing more to give.
“This multibillion-dollar corporation has plenty to give American workers — they just don’t want to,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. “UPS had a choice to make, and they have clearly chosen to go down the wrong road.”
The UPS Teamsters contract covering more than 340,000 full- and part-time workers expires July 31. No additional negotiations are scheduled.
The Teamsters have repeatedly made clear that UPS members will not work beyond the expiration of the current contract. In June, rank-and-file UPS Teamsters authorized a strike by an overwhelming 97 percent.
