Attention UPS Freight Teamsters, Please see the message below from TeamCare:

TeamCare Extension of Benefit Coverage

4/24/2020 - We have been informed that the Board of Trustees of TeamCare have approved a Plan amendment granting up to eight weeks of TeamCare Layoff Coverage at no cost to members who are laid off between March 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020.

In cases where a collective bargaining agreement, other written agreement, or any legal obligation requires employer contributions for laid off employees paid to the Fund; the eight weeks of TeamCare Layoff Coverage will begin the week after the employer paid contributions cease. Members who continue to be laid off at the end of the TeamCare Layoff Coverage may elect COBRA for continued coverage. You will be receiving details directly from TeamCare shortly. Please contact TeamCare with any questions.

3/19/2020 - The Board of Trustees and staff of TeamCare have been closely monitoring the global outbreak of the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). With COVID-19 beginning to have an increased impact in our communities, we feel it's important to answer your questions and share the steps TeamCare is taking to help keep our members safe and healthy.

TeamCare is working with our frontline medical professionals and vendor partners (BCBS, MMO, Caremark, Teladoc, and Quest Diagnostics) to best protect the health of our members. Covid-19 Updates

The Teamsters UPS and UPS Freight National Negotiating Committees and UPS have reached an agreement to protect members at UPS and UPS Freight who may be affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In summary, the agreement provides for paid leave for any worker who is diagnosed with COVID-19 or required to be quarantined or if they are quarantined due to a family member’s illness.

While on leave, the pay will be:

  • 8 hours per work day for a Full-Time employee, max of 10 work days;
  • *For UPS Freight workers only:  4 hours per work day for Part-Time employee, max of 10 work days.
  • Health and Welfare and Pension contributions will be made as required by the supplement for these hours;
  • If an employee self-quarantines, uses paid time off (PTO), and is later diagnosed with COVID-19, the company will re-populate the Paid-Time-Off up to the 80/35 hours.

Further, any employee directly impacted by the virus and missing work as set forth above will not have those days counted as an attendance infraction.

Enrolling into the Teamsters-National 401(k) Savings Plan is one of the best things you can do to help yourself prepare for tomorrow.

The Teamsters-National 401(k) Savings Plan is an example of Teamsters using their combined buying power to negotiate valuable programs and services for members.

Under the laws governing 401(k) plans, before a member can join, an employer must agree to participate. The Plan’s trustees—one-half from the union and one-half from participating employers—monitor and direct the services provided by this Plan. It is a qualified 401(k) plan that lets you deduct a portion of your salary and save it in an investment account. And, it is governed by ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act), which can help protect plan participants.

Prudential Retirement® (Prudential) provides administrative and investment services for the Teamsters-National 401(k) Savings Plan. The Board of Trustees selected Prudential after conducting a search and evaluation of retirement plan service providers.
