IBT Fact Sheet and Video on Yellow Proposed Changes
SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON YELLOW
The Teamsters have learned that Yellow is talking to members about the company’s proposed change of operations and trying to blame the union for not allowing it to change its business model. What Yellow is doing is wrong. The company is misleading members with false information.
In fact, what the company is doing is trying to blame the Teamsters for its own executive mismanagement. Yellow wants to force union members to agree to significant mid-term operational contract concessions.
“Our members have spoken loud and clear. As Teamsters, we have certain standards. And our administration is determined to set the standard,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. “Yellow has proven time and again it cannot manage itself. Yellow doesn’t deserve and cannot be expected to continue under its current structure. That’s the direction the Teamsters are going to take.”

6/6/2023 Update - IBT Letter on Yellow's Proposed LOA
The following is a message from the IBT
By letter dated May 30, 2023, Yellow sent TNFINC a proposed Letter of Agreement (“LOA”) seeking significant operational changes. A copy of the proposed LOA is attached. The Company claims that the changes it is now demanding are necessary as part of its “One Yellow” plan to merge all of its operating companies and become a “Super Regional” carrier. The Company is also demanding that this be done almost immediately.
The current Yellow NMFA expires in less than 10 months and the parties would normally start negotiating for a new agreement months before the expiration. We are nearly at that point in time. Nevertheless, we were agreeable to reopening the NMFA early but advised Yellow that we would still need to go through our normal process of obtaining membership surveys, holding Local Union proposal meetings, establishing bargaining committees (which includes the rank and file) and conducting a “2-person” meeting to finalize and approve initial proposals. We also repeatedly made clear to the Company that it would need to provide substantial economic improvements for the members if the parties did reopen the contract early. The Company, however, has now advised that it cannot wait for the normal process to occur and instead sent over the proposed LOA. The proposed LOA demands immediate contract modifications.
