Martin Luther King Remembered

On the night before he died, Martin Luther King gave a speech about the dignity of labor. It still rings true. He was in Memphis, Tenn., supporting sanitation workers' rights to respect and a decent wage. He said: “Whenever you are engaged in work that serves humanity and is for the building of humanity, it has dignity and it has worth.” Dr.

  • The International Brotherhood of Teamsters is closely monitoring the global health crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Working with other unions, public health officials and other experts in our Safety and Health Department, the Teamsters Union is focused on providing our affiliate locals, 1.4 million members, and staff with the most up-to-date information and resources to help everyone in this difficult time.

Many Teamster members across multiple industries are seeing the effects of the widespread transmission of the disease caused by the virus, known as COVID-19. These workers are at increased risk if they frequently interact with potentially infected or infected individuals.

  • On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, Dean Foods filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It’s important to note that many companies file Chapter 11 in an effort to reorganize their debt and capital structure to facilitate a sale to a strategic/industry buyer or to a financial buyer with the goal to continue operating its core lines of business – and one of those options appears to be the case here.

The Teamsters Dairy Conference will continue to update Local Unions and our nearly 5,000 Teamster members working at Dean Foods on key developments in the bankruptcy case. We will post relevant newsletters, articles and key dates in this space.

  • Workers’ pensions are being endangered by both Congress and those charged with overseeing them. The Teamsters and our members are standing united to say “No!” to cuts and “Yes!” to greater retirement security!

Film Industry 'Waiting-To-Be-Contacted List'

If you are applying for a Movie/Film driver job, YOU MUST HAVE A Class A CDL. Your name will be automatically deleted from the waiting list if you don’t have a Class A CDL*. Please read this entire page** before filling out the online form.

9/20/2019 Driver Update:  We currently have hundreds of Class A CDL Drivers interested in seeking work as a Teamster Movie Driver on our waiting list that must be called before we can call anyone new. If/when we begin to bring in new people, the paragraph message below will be updated in red, so please check this page for updates. We are no longer returning phone calls from interested Movie job seekers due to the super high volume of calls. Please do NOT call and please do NOT come by the Union Hall seeking work in the Movie industry. The ONLY way to have an opportunity to seek work is to fill out this form. You will be contacted when we get down to your name on the waiting list (called in order of received). There is no need to “checkup” on where you are on the list as that information is not known to the Film Agent until we download the next set of names from this websites Film Industry "Waiting-To-Be-Contacted List".

We are currently NOT accepting any new applications for drivers at this time due to the number of shows steadily decreasing into the fall/winter season. We may find a need for new drivers in the spring of 2020 but at this time the overflow hiring “Exhausted List” is closed. If you would like to be added to the “Waiting-to-be- Contacted List”, please fill out the contact form by clicking here.

4/17/2017 Wrangler Update: We are currently NOT accepting any applications for wranglers due to the number of wranglers that are unemployed at this time. If you would like to be notified when applications will be accepted, please fill out the contact form with Wrangler Experience clicking here.

If you are interested in being a new Driver or Wrangler in the Movie Industry, please Click Here to View the Rules regarding a new “Exhausted List” that has been created to make it possible for individuals such as yourself to be put on a daily list of available drivers with no monthly cost to seek work!!!

There is a one-time $750 set up fee to get your info into the system, create an electronic profile for you, and every single day of the week send your name and information, like qualifications, to production companies for possible hire. You will be responsible for logging into the system daily in order to be available for work the next day. (We will send you a courtesy email reminder every day at 8:30 pm that you can simply click on to let Productions know you are available for a work call the next day. If you don’t want to work, simply ignore the email.)

There is no monthly cost to you to stay on our availability list but once you are hired, 3% of your gross wages will be submitted as a referral fee whenever you do work. Those funds help to cover the administrative costs of negotiating and enforcing the dozens of Local 492 Movie Agreements signed each year with production companies and also help to recoup the costs of allowing you to seek work for free for an indefinite period of time. We want you to feel free to use our system to seek work without having to worry about monthly dues when you are not working.

There is no guarantee of employment and you do not need to be a member of Local 492, but this list will give you an opportunity to work in the industry when we run out of Drivers and/or Wranglers.

*You must have a valid Class A CDL, DOT medical card and current MVR, unless you are applying to be a Wrangler only (no driving). If you want to be a Wrangler/Driver, you must meet the Driver requirements as well.

**The Union reserves the right to remove you from this waiting list for cause which includes, but is not limited to: Not a NM resident, Driver without a Class A CDL, directly contacting productions to solicit Teamster work, harassing union officials, submitting false documents or false/untruthful info, currently on another 492 roster, etc.
